About Me

I have always loved children and have been involved in babysitting ever since I was 10. Instead of playing with my friends, a lot of the time I would go over to my neighbors and be a mother's helper for newborn twins and a three year old. Ever since then, I knew I wanted to work with children in some way.

My mother was a preschool teacher early in her career but I never thought that I would want to follow her footsteps.  I went to college wanting to major in business and work in commercial real estate. When I transferred to Hobart and William Smith Colleges, I came upon Education classes and became very interested in the program. Since I had transferred, it was too late to become enrolled in the Teacher Program and instead I minored in Education. I took a lot of classes about autism and special needs and wanted to become a special needs teacher. Once I graduated and decided to move to Boston, I got offered a position at BEEP (Brookline Early Education Program)  in a 3 year old preschool with severe special needs.

This is my second year in the classroom and I have absolutely loved it. I decided to get my degree in Early Education and eventually get my degree in Special Needs.

Ideally I would love to teach in a public school Kindergarten that is inclusive.

Below is a picture from my classroom.  I drew the flower on the left and told a child step- by -step how to draw the same flower (she had asked me to teach her how to draw a flower) and this is how she drew it (She is 3 years old).
